- Step 1: Buy package curtains. I happened to have these stored in a closet for a few years figuring I'd eventually use them again one day. They are a Belgium linen rod pocket in creme.
- Step 2: Go to the local hobby/fabric store and purchase trim and fabric. For the buttons covers, I bought the small scrap squares of fabric. You can also buy a pillowcase if you are trying to match a bedding set. For the trim, I have used pom poms, tassles, fringe or grosgrain ribbon.
- Step 3: Cover button with fabric, pinch pleats and sew the buttons on. Tip: If you can't sew, a seamstress can do this for very low cost.
- Step 4: Sew on trim of Pom Poms or other trim selection vertically down the inside of the curtains panels. Tip: If you can't sew this can be put on with a glue gun.
These work great for a boys rooms as well. I have done them with Black and White gingham curtains with white pique buttons and black grosgrain ribbon trim for a boy's nursery.
Also, the trim really pops if you do a bright color. They have great pom poms available in bright yellow, lime green, pink, purple and pretty much every color of the rainbow. If you have questions or want trim or color advice, feel free to leave a comment and I'll respond.
